Getting Into Your Car With a Dead Nissan Fob Battery

Before we cover how to change the battery in a Nissan key fob, you might be wondering how to get into your car if the key fob isn’t working. Fortunately, your Nissan key fob has a backup key hidden inside it, so there’s no need to worry about being stranded around Chicago if your key fob battery is dead. Simply follow these steps:

  • Flip over the key fob and look for a small release latch.
  • Press on that release latch and pull out the emergency key located at the bottom of the fob.
  • Unlock the door with the key and look for a key fob port to start your car.
  • If your car has a key fob port, put the fob into the port and tap on the brake or clutch while you press the START/STOP button.
  • If your Nissan doesn’t have a port, gently step on the brake or clutch as you press the key against the START/STOP button.
